Kuding leaves are long and narrow. They are dried and twisted together to form long stick-like or needle shapes that are a deep brown to black in colour.
Also known as Broadleaf Holly tea, from the words Ku – meaning bitter and Ding – meaning spike, be prepared for a strong earthy, very bitter taste! The liquor is a lovely yellow hue with a powerful medicinal aroma. Steep with only a few leaves to begin until you get familiar with the taste.
If you can deal with the bitterness, the health benefits of Broadleaf Holly tea are imposing! It is great for headaches, sinusitis, improving the mind and increasing memory. Use it for lowering blood pressure, reducing cholesterol and detoxing. Not recommended for pregnant ladies.
